چکیده

Abstract Subri River Forest Reserve (SR) is the most extensive forest area in Ghana with an accompanying rich floral species. Over years, logging from both legally prescribed and illegal operations remain predominant disturbance SR. Gap creation following crucial determining tree species composition diversity. Hence, study evaluated diversity of naturally regenerated gaps different sizes and, again examined roles these fulfilling economic ecological agenda sustainable management after Twelve were randomly selected: 4 each grouped into small size (≤ 200 m 2 ), medium (201–300 large (≥ 300 ). Data gathered 1 circular at gap centres repeatedly inside width strip along 20 individual N-S-E-W transects. Species differed significantly between sizes. Higher indices measured gaps. shared similar There significant differences among various height groupings across all three Pioneers preferred to gaps, while shade-tolerant for their abundance. Vulnerable Lower Risk Near Threatened under Conservation Status Premium Commercial Utilisation proliferation conservation. Therefore, we recommend single tree-based selective ensuring creations (200–300 ) through adjustments permit process, revision Allocation Quota Permit, strict adherence 40-year polycyclic selection system, more dedicated enforcement monitoring. Changes protocols would tremendously facilitate natural regeneration suites timber resulting improvement overall biodiversity conservation associated forest, harvests income those who receive permits.

Effect of Stand Structural Characteristics on Natural Regeneration of Acer Campestre L. in Arasbaran Forest

Natural regeneration is one of the key aspects of forest sustainability and a tool to decide on restoration programs in forest areas. The purpose of this study was to investigate the quantity of natural regeneration of Acer campestre L. as one of the most important tree species in Arasbaran forests and its relationship with elevation changes and structural characteristics in the natural stands....

Damages of Skidder and Animal Logging to Forest Soils and Natural Regeneration

Nacrtak Extracting logs from stump to landings causes extensive damages to forest stand and soil. In this research two parcels adjacent to each other were selected in order to assess the effect of traditional and mechanized methods of logging on regeneration and soil compaction. A skid trail and a mule trail with similar longitudinal slope, skidding direction and total volume of extracted wood ...

Natural radioactivity and heavy metal distribution in reservoirs in Ghana

The present paper has determined the radioactivity concentrations, which are due to natural occurrence of radionuclides along with heavy metal concentration in water, sediment, and fish from 2 reservoirs in Ghana. Heavy metal concentrations in all samples were generally within the WHO safe limits with the average activity concentrations of 238U, 232Th, and 40K in water being respectively 0.42±0...

Background Thirty years ago, there was a monograph of vegetation and plant diversity in the region prepared by the Department of Forestry at the Northeast Forestry University (unpublished), but the variety of plants in the region has changed significantly over the past 30 years. In future years, the authors hope to publish a new monograph and this research is to prepare for this work. This stud...
